Casa X Drops New Killer Single ‘100 Faces’

Building the anticipation with another release from his upcoming album, Sydney rapper CASA X once again shows off his lyrical versatility and melodious hip-hop hooks in the title track ‘100 Faces’.

Written after performing at a festival for a wild crowd of over 100 faces, the track is about the cognitive dissonance felt after being worshipped and loved on stage, to becoming another face in the crowd once finishing a set.

Of the track CASA X says, “Once we had finished our set it all went back to normal as if nothing ever happened on stage. I wanted the chorus to capture that emotion I was feeling, from once being on stage to then feeling part of that crowd.”

Produced by Marvelouz, ‘100 Faces’ is a live-sounding track that features moody guitar riffs and sharp percussion, creating a dark and emotive vibe that compliments the conceptual metaphors used to portray CASA X’s sombre realisations.

Influenced by the sound of live music, CASA X says “I want people to feel a vibe they may of experienced at a bar during an era when live music was booming. At the same time I didn’t want the music to take away from the lyrics and what’s being said”.

The versatile hip hop artist is steadily gaining a reputation for his lyrical excellence and humble storytelling. CASA X seeks to break through his own skin when he writes, lacing his art with double entendres and nostalgic epiphones, whilst playing the role of devil on your shoulder, or deeper, the doubtful and lonely voice echoing in the back of your head.

Expect to hear more rawness and indelicate honesty in CASA X’s upcoming album ‘100FACES’, which is slated for release later this year.

Experimental Rap Duo Violet Houses Drop Single ‘Keys to the Horse’

violet.jpg

Experimental rap duo Violet Houses release their immensely creative lead single ‘Keys to the Horse’ from upcoming EP of the same calibre, ‘Aliens Aliens Aliens’.

Intentionally unconventional, the single and its music video embodies a parallel universe that challenges normality and explores the interdimensional alter egos of Violet Houses. It’s filled with unnecessarily convoluted metaphors that are accompanied by equally as complex visuals leaving you questioning reality and feeling intrigued.

On the single, the duo said, “I hope we’ve created something escapist. A different dimension to explore – that was the goal. That and to create something as enigmatic and freaky as we are.”

Violet Houses is a collaborative project formed by Melbourne rapper and producer Fresh Violetand Brisbane multi-instrumentalist and producer Card Houses. Each a master of their own artistry, side-by-side as Violet Houses the duo breaks through the constructs of common sound by exploring the outer limits of pop music.

Since a few solid releases over the past couple years, Fresh Violet has stapled herself as one of the most promising female artists in Australia’s hip-hop scene. Her signature sound and contagious attitude is what makes her unique and addictive to watch, amassing an organic fanbase that treasures her individuality.

Meanwhile, since entering the rap scene in 2017, Card Houses is quickly building a reputation for their production skills and instrumental prowess. The non-binary artist’s aim is to win over the hearts and minds of the world through a cocktail of intangible weirdness and over-the-top cutesiness, which is ever so enjoyable to watch in the ‘Keys to the Horse’ music video.

As far as influences go, Violet Houses’ inspirations stem from a deliberate variety of styles demonstrated by artists like Tyler the Creator, Aesop Rock and Erykah Badu. The vibe of ‘Keys to the Horse’ is very much an exploration of braggadocio turned absurdism.

Violet Houses’ debut EP ‘Aliens Aliens Aliens’ is in equal parts an art project, science experiment and space exploration which is slated for release later this month.

CASA X Releases Epic Cinematic Visuals For ‘Lighting Fires’

casa new.png

Following the release of his lead single ‘Flip Mode’ earlier in May, CASA X hits back with a hauntingly poetic and lyrically enthralling hip-hop track titled ‘Lighting Fires’, featuring vocals by RENNY SYMF.

Told through an introspective lens, ‘Lighting Fires’ is about the lows of a struggling artist. The track touches on themes such as fame and fortune, along with broken relationships and rehab.

Of the single CASA X says, “I want to give people an insight of what a struggling artist lives through. The highs and lows, the torment of success, and to consider what the price of fame is really worth”.

After hearing the early production from Marvelouz Music, CASA X’s intention was to depict a sense of anxiety that was running from his past, which was later developed into the music video.

In an incredibly cinematic representation of what ‘Lighting Fires’ is about, the accompanying music video is a story driven portrayal with primary meanings of transformation and change. CASA X says, “we used multiple symbolic transitions such as water to fire, industrial to nature, and disoriented to a clear state, in order to show the rebirth of an artist.”

Hailing from Sydney, the versatile hip hop artist is steadily gaining a reputation for his lyrical excellence and humble storytelling. Within the upcoming album ‘100FACES’, ‘Lighting Fires’ unfolds as the emotional rollercoaster that CASA X displays along its journey, which is slated for release later this year.

CASA X Drops New Trap Step Single ‘Flip Mode’

Hailing from Sydney, hip hop artist CASA X flips the script with his new festival Trap Step banger ‘Flip Mode’ produced by Brown Rice.

The track is an unorthodox concoction of hip hop, trap and dubstep, bringing a refreshing new slant to the latest surge of upcoming talent from Australia.

On the single, CASA said, “This track is about venturing out and stepping away from the ordinary structure and sound of hip hop. That’s why it has no bar structure and was written around the instrumental in order to achieve a sense of improvisation,”

With confident flow and delivery, partnered with captivating lyrics make for a strong combination and a unique sound that stands out from current records. The buttery beats will make it a dance-floor favourite.

‘Flip Mode’ is a standalone single to showcase CASA’s versatility and lead into his upcoming ‘100FACES’ album which is a collaborative effort with Marvelouz Music. The album will divulge more into the modern hip hop spectrum and is slated for release later this year.

CASA cleverly draws on the key elements from his love of hip hop to deliver a well-balanced yet punchy tune without sticking to limitations of genres.

Over the years he a gained true understanding of the profession and developed an unquenchable thirst for lyrical excellence and humble storytelling – a fleeting quality in an industry peppered with empty cash cows, face tatts and gold chains. CASA seeks to break through his own skin when he writes, lacing his art with double entendres and nostalgic epiphones, whilst playing the role of devil on your shoulder, or deeper, the doubtful and lonely voice echoing in the back of your head.

Hip Hop/Soul Trio Variations of Light Release an Eerie and Experimental Second Single ‘Overlook Hotel’

VoL shot 2.jpg

Hip Hop/Soul Trio Variations of Light release the eerie
and experimental ‘Overlook Hotel’ as the second single off their debut album Lunar Beautific.

In complete contrast with their first single ‘Petty Love’, which has garnered recent attention and praise from tastemakers across the globe, ‘Overlook Hotel’ serves as the opposite bookend of the narrative. It’s a darker track that represents the freedom of experimentation and paints the world to suit the soundscape.

‘Overlook Hotel’ is about departed family members and channelling their spirits to help with life and creativity. Nelson Dialect’s lyrics cleverly describes his own experiences with the energy of deceased relatives being carried through what he
writes and says.

Nelson Dialect says, “It’s a departure from the more soulful, Hip Hop style we embrace on the rest of the album, and shows the darker influence which builds the spectrum of light. It bridges what our group represents as Variations of Light”.

Like the other tracks in the album, ‘Overlook Hotel’ was born from a long jam session that went well into the night, where the later it got the more loose their ideas became. Nelson Dialect began to play a sample in the MPC in a disruptive, in and out time way, Alnitak Kid used the Sp303 to play the drums live, and Nate88 jammed along with the Rhodes.

ALT- HIP HOP BAND THE CHARLES STREET CLIQUE RELEASES CAPTIVATING NEW SINGLE ‘GOOD FOR ME’

Charlesstreetclique (5 of 49)

Hailing from Sydney, alternative hip hop band The Charles Street Clique challenges the traditions of genres with a hybrid of different sounds in their debut release ‘Good For Me’, a single off their upcoming EP Court Dates and Booths’.

A truly unique and creatively fascinating composition, ‘Good For Me’ explores both sides of a tragic love story between a good girl, a bad boy, and a life of crime that consumes them both.

Ingeniously creative and both lyrically and visually enthralling, the single is inspired by the real-life romance of the band’s rapper, Alex G. This doomed love story is told through a fusion of beautiful acoustic guitar, grimey street lyrics, and the melodic voice of Sarah Jennifer. It uncovers the demise of a hopeful romance and the digressive truths of a criminal lifestyle.

On the single, Alex said, The lyrics for the song drew from that experience and Jack (the band’s acoustic guitarist) was able to capture the darkness of this doomed love story perfectly and created an ominous riff that, along with Sarah Jennifer’s beautiful voice, created an incredibly powerful song.”

Accompanying the single, The Charles Street Clique have created stunning visuals that resembles a short crime film, featuring Instagram model Brittany Baylis. The production captures the hard-hitting narrative of ‘Good For Me’ and further unveils the raw creativity and originality of the band.

Through combining their different musical backgrounds grown from each being individual artists, it is The Charles Street Clique’s intention to push boundaries and allow their audience to appreciate the uniqueness of their sound and the juxtaposition within their dynamic musical abilities.

The fresh and innovative sound captured in ‘Good For Me’ is further portrayed in their upcoming EP ‘Court Blocks and Booths’, which is a 6 track project that deals with themes such as tragic love stories, courtroom dramas, criminal tales, and even Tinder.

Whilst relatively new to the music scene, their upcoming EP is equally as captivating as its’ debut single and is sure to make some noise in the Australian hip hop scene.
